This type of damage is typical of a stone or object hitting the glass. Our glazier, Colin, removed the cracked glass and cleaned the rebate of old, dried putty. Before: Smashed shopfront in Emerald. Even though this window has been smashed, the glass used was a laminated safety glass so it held together. Laminated glass is two or more sheets of glass with a plastic interlayer between the sheets of glass.

After: Replaced shopfront with clear laminated safety glass. The advantage of using laminated safety glass is that it normally holds together when broken making it much safer.
